This is one of those categories that I am still struggling with. Of your lineup, I thought Abdi was great, but Lead. I haven't seen Bruhl. I thought Fassbender was awful (and I LOVE him usually). I really liked Leto and was glad he won the Oscar. I liked Rockwell, but hated his movie.
Surprised at your dislike of Fassbender here. I actually thought he was just as strong as Ejiofor in the film. Happy he finally got a nomination tho, after snubs for Hunger and Shame. Rockwell is one of those guys. Some day, he's gonna here his named called. Just continuously great.
There is just something so stilted about everything in 12 Years a Slave outside of Ejiofor and Nyong'o. They felt so real and grounded but the rest of the cast, to me, felt so stiff and continuously acting through their scenes. It took me out.
