Ew, and I hate that Mandela song. LOL...love I See Fire, although I won't nominate it because I haven't seen the movie, and don't want to. I love that you recognize another Frozen song, but why not Do You Wanna Build a Snowman?
I went through about 2 dozen songs till I landed on these five. The finally casually to go was "Please, Mr. Kennedy" from Inside Llewyn Davis. But I digress.
I thought "Ordinary Love" is a solid song from U2, but nowhere near as good as "The Hands That Built America" from Gangs of New York. But then I also heard this song done acoustically, and it works for sure.
And the reason I went with "Forever" over "Snowman" is because I think it's a stronger song on it's own. Snowman is a great exposition song, but without the visual of the story to back it up (little Anna in giant ballroom, parents ship going down, etc..) it's not as moving. Beautiful for sure, but not as strong on it's own audio alone. There is some of that with "First Time" as well, but it's much more easily sung without the visual aid. Plus...it sounds like Wicked a bit lol.
As far as the other 2, I thought they perfectly captured the tone/essence of their respective films. Atlas doesn't have the absolute greatest lyrics, but for the mood of Catching Fire, it's great.
LET IT GO!
