The San Diego critics are always an interesting bunch to watch. In the past they have chosen their winners off the beaten path at times, which makes it more interesting. That variety is shown in several of their nominee choices, in almost every category. I also don't recall them announcing nominees before, but I could easily be mistaken about that.
