• Mr. Holmes
• The Revenant

Surprised that Star Wars, The Danish Girl, and Carol all missed out. This list of 7 will be narrowed down to the 3 eventual nominees. I'd say Mad Max in the only guarantee. Could make a case for each of the others, particularly 100-Year-Old Man, Black Mass, Mr. Holmes, and The Revenant.
