This year, both Prisoners and Side Effects were that for me. Hugh Jackman gave a great underrated performance, and Melissa Leo is chilling. <br />Side Effects was released too early in the year for anyone to properly remember it, but I think it might be the best film to come from that time. The rest may have large casts (Side Effects unseen), but overall I felt that they were littered with poor performances.
